Voodoo as we know it today is a religion borne of an era in history where people held other people captive and exploited them in slavery. Those who were enslaved struggled to maintain and preserve their faith in the gods of their ancestors. Their forced immersion into different cultures and intermingling with people of other tribes, nations, races, and spiritual traditions resulted in a Creolized African-derived religion. From this struggle, New Orleans Voodoo emerged in the swamps and bayous of Louisiana.
Bayou Swamp Voodoo Art is reflective of the Louisiana folk art tradition, coupled with Louisiana folklore and Creole Voodoo.

Bayou Swamp Ju Ju Dolls™ are created out of recycled muslin scraps that have been coffee-stained and lightly sanded for that primitive Louisiana folk art effect. They are stuffed with whatever is close at hand...scraps of fabric, stuffing, Spanish moss, yarn...whatever is available to avoid wasting materials. These magickal Bayou Swamp Ju Ju Dolls are adorned with saints medals, powerful fetishes, and other magickal and protective charms and their eyes are hand stitched.
Keep your ju ju doll close to you, carry it with you, or keep it near the entrance of your home so it can best protect you. To use your ju ju doll, hold it and focus on the need or desire that you have. Imagine yourself accomplishing your goal by creating a clear vision of yourself successfully attaining what it is you desire in your mind. Do this exercise as frequently as possible. Place it ina special place to remind you of your need or desire. Measures approximately 9 inches tall and 6 inches wide.
