Guede Voodoo Talisman

Talismans are symbols created for a variety of purposes, including protection, success, wholeness, and unity. One does not have to be a pagan to use these talismans. Some of the greatest Icelandic rune wizards were Christian clergy and bishops. Contrary to popular belief, the use of talismans does not have anything to do with devil worship or demons.

New Orleans Voodoo Moss Dolls

In New Orleans, Voodoo moss dolls can be found all over the French Quarter in a variety of styles, sold as magickal curios infused with the power to heal or hex. These dolls are popular due to their affordability and flexibility. They come in all colors and sometimes carry a gris gris bag (a portable spell) of their own. Mini Zulu Voodoo Doll

Zulu Voodoo dolls are made in honor of New Orleans' first and best-known African-American Carnival organization, founded in 1909 by African-Americans excluded from the city's mainline Carnival krewes.

Formally known as the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, the krewe of Zulu began to parade in 1916, featuring characters such as King Zulu, Big Shot and the Witch Doctor who are city favorites to this day. While Rex rules Carnival with a golden scepter and jeweled crown, King Zulu carries a banana stalk and wears a lard can on his head. And all of the krewe's maskers - now including men and women of all races - wear black face and Afro wigs to turn the tables on racial stereotypes! The prize of the Zulu parade is a painted coconut; they used to be thrown from the floats but are now handed out because of high liability insurance costs due to the risk of injury to spectators.
