Black
Hawk Hoodoo & Spiritualist Products
"The Watchman's on the Wall , ready
to Fight your battles for you"

The Spiritualist churches of New Orleans honor the
Native American spirit of Black Hawk. Black Hawk is also considered a Voodoo
Saint and is often included in ritual work wherein worshipers become
possessed and gain the power to heal and prophesy. The Indian Spirit Guide
has a big influence on Hoodoo and Voodoo today and can be seen on many
hoodoo products such as Indian Spirit Incense and room spray by the E. Davis
Company, and now on Planet Voodoo's own Voodoo Mama's brand.
I am happy
to offer you Voodoo Mama's signature
line of Black Hawk Spiritual
products. The ingredients are gathered
according to proper Native American
protocol as I was taught by many
teachers over the years. Like Mam'zelle
Laveaux, I am Creole of Native American
ancestry; Cherokee on my mother's side
of the Bird Clan and Aztec on my
father's side, descending from one of
the seven original Aztec tribes of
Tlaxcala, and direct descendent of King Xicontencotl el Viejo. Pedro de
Alvarado, the Spanish conquistador who
is also my ancestor, married the
daughter of King Xicotencatl el Viejo
and had the first mixed blood children
in the Americas. This is my lineage,
traced back to the 1400s.
Unlike
others who profess to know the Indian Spirits of hoodoo,
I have met the spirits first hand in authentic Native
American ritual context. I have gone through many ceremonies and rites of passage
that gave me the privilege of being keeper of the
medicine. Many years ago, I was put on the hill for my hunblecha by Lakota Holy Man Ben Brown Horse and
medicine woman Willie Dolphus of Eagle Butte South
Dakota. I have been to Sundance and I was given the role
of "water pourer" for the inipi ceremony, which in
English is the sweat lodge purification ceremony. I have
participated in the Native American Church and
have partaken of the blessed sacrament.
I am a pipe carrier, and I have been in the longhouses of the
Sac and Fox and participated in a burial ceremony.
These
are only some of the spiritual rites of passage and
activities I have experienced and continue to experience
in my lifetime. My knowledge of the Indian Spirit
medicines comes directly from the Holy men and women in
my life as well as from the Spirits themselves. You can
be assured that what you purchase from me is the real
thing, and is not based on reading a book or an educated
guess. I am not someone who has jumped on the bandwagon,
professing to know what I do not. If you want the
real thing, you have come to the right place. Everything
available at Planet Voodoo is empowered with the
medicine of the Great Spirit and it will help you. You
only need to be open and willing to receive the
abundance that awaits you.
I am a proud member of the
Association of Indigenous Anthropologists, a section of the American
Anthropological Association, member #00041431

Black Hawk
Blessed Votive Candle
In New Orleans, red votive candles are
traditionally used
to offer devotions to the Spirit of Black Hawk. Congregations of the
Spiritualist churches have the opportunity to purchase red votive candles
dedicated to Black Hawk, along with a bottle of Black Hawk spiritual oil.
In the native way, the color red signifies the spirit world and all things
sacred. Here is your opportunity to have your own red votive candle that has been
consecrated on my altar to Black Hawk to use in your own devotions and requests to his
Spirit.

lightening struck wood, leather medicine bag, Black Hawk War Dirt, Black
Hawk Spiritual Oil, shell, raven's nest, and special prayer. You provide the

Voodoo Mama's Black Hawk Starter Dirt
The dirt that holds my Black Hawk bust contains a
blend of seven sacred dirts in accordance with the seven sacred directions in
the Native American cosmology. These dirts are chosen for specific reasons and
have ancestral ties to Black Hawk and his people. The dirt has been blessed in
the Native way and holds the many secrets of our elders. I am willing to part
with some of my dirt for a nominal donation of $10.00 to cover shipping and handling.
Simply add the dirt you receive from me with your
own dirt and you will have some very powerful dirt that can be used for all
kinds of ritual and ceremonial purposes.
Let Black Hawk fight your battles for you!

What
is New Orleans Voodoo
Hoodoo?
The term voodoo
hoodoo is commonly used by Louisiana locals to describe
our unique brand of New Orleans Creole Voodoo. It refers to
a blending of religious and magickal elements. There is the
tendency for many people to separate Voodoo the religion
from hoodoo the magick. However, this separation did not
occur in New Orleans as it did in other areas of the
country. The so-called magick is part of the religion; the
charms are medicine and spiritual tools that hold the
inherent healing mechanisms of the traditional religion and
culture. Voodoo in New Orleans is a way of life for those
who believe. A fellow New Orleans native and contemporary
gris gris man Dr. John explains it this way:
In New
Orleans, in religion, as in food or race or music, you can’t
separate nothing from nothing. Everything mingles each into
the other – Catholic saint worship with gris gris spirits,
evangelical tent meetings with spiritual church ceremonies –
until nothing is purely itself but becomes part of one fonky
gumbo. That is why it is important to understand that in New
Orleans the idea of voodoo – or as we call it gris gris – is
less a distinct religion than a way of life. (Rebennack &
Rummel, 1994, p. 159).
