Devotional Voodoo Altar Dolls are created in a ritualized manner to represent a specific Loa, Spirit, Saint, Angel, or Deity. Devotional dolls are those designed to invoke the power of a specific loa to assist in the daily matters of its possessor. The loas are the deities in the Voodoo pantheon. Artists are often inspired by one of the goddesses, gods, or spirits and create Voodoo dolls according to their understanding and interpretation. Typically, artists incorporate specific characteristics into the doll, such as color, objects, numbers, and clothing that are unique to that deity. Usually these types of dolls are created by a mambo, priest, or practitioner/artist and are not meant for public display. Rather, they are highly personal and should be kept away from prying eyes and curious hands. These Devotional Voodoo Altar Dolls are ideal for placement on your altar. Among the most commonly created loa dolls are Baron Samedi and his wife Manman Brigit, Erzulie Freda, Papa Legba, and La Sirene.

Like all Planet Voodoo's authentic Voodoo dolls, these powerful and magickal Devotional Voodoo Altar dolls are lovingly constructed out of a base of sticks and Spanish moss, hand-stitched with the finest fabrics, and adorned with ribbons, fancy yarns, cowry shells, beads, charms, fetishes, and feathers. Their faces are carefully sculpted out of clay and painted, and they are self-standing. These powerful Devotional Voodoo Altar dolls are carefully prepared to function as a conduit through which your intentions can be manifested into reality. Your authentic Devotional Voodoo Altar doll will arrive ready to enhance your connection to the Invisibles, the Mysteries, the Loa, and the Divine Spirits of Voodoo.

Each Devotional Voodoo Altar doll is uniquely handcrafted so please allow for individual variations. The one you receive will vary slightly due to the fabrics, feathers, beads, shells, buttons, and other elements used to create each Devotional Voodoo Altar doll. However, your Devotional Voodoo Altar doll will be every bit as powerful and beautiful as the ones pictured. Rush delivery is available on all items for an additional fee of $25.00; however, we will still need two weeks in order to properly create and consecrate your altar doll. If you need you doll sooner, you MUST let us know upon payment.

Voodoo in New Orleans

Robert Tallant

Product review: Even Anne Rice recommends it and what better recommendation about voodoo history in New Orleans can you get than Anne Rice!?! Yes, the story is old, but it's a fantastic look of the smaller details of a hidden culture. I love New Orleans, and Tallant's book is well researched. Why do you think it's been reprinted since the 1940s? That's staying power, people. Buy it. It's a great read. [From a person who knows and loves New Orleans and hoodoo too!]
