These Hoodoo Root doctors are inspired and created for the great African American Hoodoo magical tradition. They are made in the New Orleans traditional Voodoo style out of sticks and Spanish moss. They measure approximately 18 inches tall and are dressed in animal prints, guinea hen feathers that I hand collect from the Midwest prairie, cowry shells, and evil eye beads made especially for The Mystic Voodoo by Bountiful Bonita. These evil eye beads are made to ward off negativity and evil for you. Their faces are hand sculpted from polymer clay, painted, and ashed in protection from evil spirits. They hold a magickal staff… a rather scary looking talisman with a life of its own. $99.95as the focal piece

This African Witchdoctor is created in the spirit of the great healing tradition of Africa. The detail that goes into creating this Voodoo doll is incredible. With it's foundation in the New Orleans Voodoo tradition of Spanish moss and sticks, he is dressed similar to real African witchdoctors, with a robe made of rustic yarns, a feather collar, and a necklace that is hand beaded in peyote stitch. His face is emulated after an African witchdoctor mask, and his headdress follows suit, created out of a variety of feathers that exude the essence of this wild African healing craft. $99.95 TOP
This Voodoo doll is inspired by King Zulu, the star of New Orleans' first and best-known African-American Carnival organization. The prize of the Zulu parade is a painted coconut. When you purchase a Zulu Witchdoctor from the Mystic Voodoo, he will come with his own little painted coconut (not shown) and Mardi Gras beads to pass on to you in the spirit of Mardi Gras. Hoodoo is southern African American folk magic. Its main components are African folk magic, European folk tradition, and Native American Herbalism. At the core of Hoodoo is African folkloric practices such as crossing and uncrossing, using spiritual baths and washes, creating gris-gris bags, crossroads magic, and foot track magic. Some Hoodoo practitioners integrate elements of the Voodoo, and some do not. Hoodoo is not Voodoo, and Voodoo is not Hoodoo. They are different; yet, complementary. Also present in Hoodoo are European and Kabalistic influences, ancestor worship, and strong elements of Christian and Jewish mysticism, such as the use of various seals and sigils. In fact, the Bible was considered a primary source for magical lore and the psalms became a key aspect of hoodoo practice. Sticks, stones, roots, and bones are the basic ingredients found in the Hoodoo's mojo bag.
