Met Agwe

Vodou Admiral of the Seven Seas

PRODUCT DETAILS

Admiral of the Seven Seas, Met Agwe is a Rada lwa and depicted as a sailor or admiral in the Navy. He is the patron of fishermen and rules over all the boats that sail on the sea, and rules all the treasures found deep beneath the sea's surface.

Like all Planet Voodoo's authentic Vodou dolls, these powerful and magickal Met Agwe Vodou  Altar dolls are lovingly constructed out of a base of sticks and Spanish moss, hand-stitched with the finest fabrics, and adorned with shells, ribbons, feathers, and special charms, semiprecious stones, crystals, fetishes, and beads unique to the particular Spirit. The face is expertly hand-sculpted and carved out of clay, then baked and painted with details. Met Agwe Altar Dolls are depicted as Sea Captains and have an expertly handcrafted trident and collar made from cowry shells. Each exquisite Met Agwe Altar doll is carefully consecrated according to proper Voodoo protocol, anointed with ritual oils, and ritually prepared to house a particular loa or spirit. Your authentic Met Agwe Altar doll will arrive ready to enhance your connection to the Vodou Admiral of the Seven Seas, keeper of the ocean's treasures.

Met Agwe Voodoo Altar Dolls are approximately 10 x 5" tall inches tall and are self-standing. Price does not include the boat. Quantities may be adjusted at checkout.

Please note that orders for custom Voodoo dolls will take up to 6-8 weeks to be filled due to the sheer number of dolls ordered and I currently have a back log of dolls to complete.

Please do not order a doll unless you are willing to be patient and wait for it. Thank you for your understanding.

$75.00 Temporarily unavailable

Met Agwe Boat

Met Agwe is commonly depicted with a boat or a ship and his vévé includes an image of a boat with the word Immamou on its side. Boats are often seen on altars of those who serve met Agwe as well. This boat is made of wood and hand painted in colors associated with Met Agwe. An image of Saint Ulrich adorns the center, an anchor is at top center, and a variety of objects related to the sea decorate the boat. Each boat is individually handcrafted so the one you receive will differ somewhat based on the availability of the different charms and shells at the time of creation.

More About Met Agwe in the New Orleans Voodoo Tradition

Met Agwé is the New Orleans loa who rules over the sea, fish and aquatic plants, and is the patron loa of fishermen and sailors. He is alternately married to Erzulie or La Sirene, and references are made to an affair with Ayida Wedo, the rainbow serpent, and wife of Damballa.

Offerings to Agwe are left on constructed rafts which are floated out to sea. His color is usually blue, and he is syncretized with the Catholic St. Expedite as well as Saint Ulrich, who is depicted holding a fish. His vévé, or ritual symbol, is a boat with sails. He is associated with Bayou St. John, Lake Ponchartrain, and The Mississippi River.
