About the Museum

The Voodoo Doll Museum online Gallery of Magickal Dolls, Poppets, Fetiches, and Ritual Effigies is the only museum in the world devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary Voodoo dolls and other ritual dolls. The Voodoo Doll Museum presents a provocative  perspective on the impact of magic and Voodoo on daily life through active educational and curatorial programming. It is the mission of the Voodoo Doll Museum to advance the public understanding of Voodoo dolls and doll magick across cultures and throughout time as represented by the Museum’s collection.

The Voodoo Doll Museum was founded in 2010 by Denise Alvarado as a natural extension of the two books she has authored on the subject, Voodoo Dolls in Magick and Ritual and The Voodoo Doll Spellbook: A Compendium of Ancient and Contemporary Spells and Rituals. The museum is virtual at this point in time. Specimens are being acquired sufficient for the opening of a physical museum, which is the ultimate goal.

The Voodoo Doll Museum's collections include 11 galleries and a growing article base. While still in its infancy, the Voodoo Doll Museum proudly accepts its position as the preeminent museum and educational authority for the study of Voodoo dolls and magical dolls in the world.
