Cleopatra

A floral milk bath is a favorite skin-softening method popular since the days of early Egypt. Rich in protein, milk softens the skin with its emollient butterfat.

Ingredients

1 cup Milk (whole or powdered)

7 drops of Rose absolute

Fresh Rose petals

Cinnamon or Rose scented candle

Directions

Pour milk into warm bath and add several drops (about 7 or so) of rose absolute. Sprinkle with fresh rose petals. Light your candle. Use a cinnamon candle if you are wanting to heat up your sex life and rose if you are wanting to be showered with love. Relax for as long as you please.

Yemaya Sea ScrubMermaid by Waterhouse

Sea salts are essential to your at-home Voodoo Hoodoo magickal spa kit as they exfoliate dead skin cells and stimulate circulation. They open your clogged pores to accept their minerals leaving you toned, tightened, and radiant.

Ingredients

2 cups sea salt

2 tablespoons dried chopped orange peel

7 drops essential oil of orange

3 drops essential oil of lilac blossoms

4 drops of honeysuckle essential oil

White or blue candle

Directions

Mix ingredients together. Light your white candle before bathing and thank Yemaya for the healing gifts of the sea. During bath or shower, gently rub sea salts over the skin.

Oshun Honey Bath

Ingredients

1 cup sweet almond oil (light olive or sesame oil may be substituted)

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup floral liquid soap

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Cinnamon essential oil

Yellow candle

Directions

Pour oil into a medium bowl, then carefully stir in remaining ingredients until mixture is fully blended. Pour into a clean plastic bottle with a tight-fitting stopper or lid. Shake gently before using. Pour 1/4 into warm bath. Burn a yellow candle when bathing to enhance the magickal properties of this bath treatment.

Obatala Peaceful Body Balm

Ingredients

1/2 cup of pure coconut oil

Pear essential oil

White candle

Directions

Microwave coconut oil uncovered for 30 seconds. For stovetop: place the tub inside large pan with water and heat on low until liquefied. Add 8 drops of pear essential oil. Stir, re-cap and place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Light your white candle and become still. Generously apply all over body (but not face) and allow to soak in your skin. Then, cover up with old sweats and socks so the oil doesn't stain your clothes that matter.

Oya Hydrating Body Balm

The creamy goodness of this rich balm will leave skin velvety smooth. Plums are high in calcium, magnesium and vitamins A and C.

Ingredients

1/4 cup ripe plums (peeled and pitted)

1 tablespoon grapeseed oil

3 tablespoons spring water

Purple plum scented candle

Directions

Blend ingredients until smooth. Bottle and refrigerate. Apply to face and body in shower or tub. Light the purple plum scented candle when using to enhance the magickal qualities of this recipe.

All-Purpose Voodoo.licious Body Scrub

The salt in this recipe is designed to polish your skin, increase blood circulation and stimulate lymph production to eliminate toxins, all while naturally triggering the skin's own oil secretion. Apricot kernel oil, rich in natural emollients and vitamins A and B heal damaged skin, leaving your skin moisturized and smooth.

Ingredients

2 cups coarse sea salt

1/4 cup apricot kernel

body scrub tool or loofah

Directions

Make a paste out of the sea salt and apricot kernel in a bowl. While standing in the tub or shower, scrub your body in a smooth, circular motion. Apply in a firm but nonabrasive pressure, so that you affect the surface of the skin, not the underlying tissues. Gently rise off.

Classic Goddess Bath Soak

A light carrier oil such as safflower

Directions

Add two teaspoons of oil to your water as you draw your bath.

La Sirene Seaweed Facial Mask

La Sirene is a loa, often seen as a mermaid, a watery mistress of the sea whose songs often lead men to marriage and distraction. She is known to grant gifts of extreme wealth and luck.  La Sirene is especially honored in New Orleans Voodoo and when petitioned in that city, she is offered shrimp, seaweed, and seawater.  In return, she blesses her followers with gifts of music and song. Seaweeds are rich in nutrients and mineral salts and have been traditionally used to detoxify the body both internally and externally. This mask will help your skin hold moisture and smooth fine lines.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of seaweed or kelp powder

1 tablespoon of aloe vera

1 tablespoon of raw honey

Directions

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl to make a paste. Use twice a week for healthy, glowing skin.

La Sirene Exfoliating Body Cleanser

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of beach sand

2 bars of glycerin soap

1 teaspoon of olive oil

1/4 cup of water

Citrus essential oil

Directions

Mix glycerin soap and water in a saucepan. Heat over a low flame until melted. Add olive oil and sand to the mixture. You can also add a teaspoon of a favorite essential oil for scent now, too. Stir and remove from heat. Add a few drops of essential oil (like lemon or tangerine). When the mixture becomes cool and starts to solidify, mold it with your hands into soap balls and let harden on wax paper, or pour into a container (the cut-out bottom of a milk carton works great). Great for feet, elbows and knees but not intended for your face!
